Now, if you were planning on throwing a party and actually expected people to come along, you'd probably make more of an effort than just sticking a note up in the front room and hoping for the best. Hence the excessive amount of blinking/eye-rolling I suppose. Still, making iced biscuits is always fun and so is dancing like you're a rag doll.
The song itself is not so much sad as it is poignant. Coupled with the lovely lyrics, part of the charm and emotion comes from the layers of sound. And it has clapping in it, which I like - cos that's what I want to hear.
