Detroit Social Club - Rivers & Rainbows
It was their set at last October's In The City festival that generated the buzz Detroit Social Club had been waiting for. I wish I could say I witnessed the Geordie lads' magic moment in Manchester - I was up there, moseying around at ITC - but a bunch of boys with kazoos won the toss and I was making my way to the other side of town.
But anyway, there's no missing what it is about DSC's decade spanning sound that's so brilliant... the echo-boom lyrics and the thudding drums on this track are enough for starters. And - the soulful monotony. Yeah, that's good for today.
