Her Space Holiday - My Girlfriend's Boyfriend
Trains come a close second to cars when you want a bit of motion/tracking in your vid, and you can see why. A scene unfolds in front of your eye without anything actually happening. (If I didn't know better, I'd say this was the Waterloo-Hounslow South West Trains service, given how slow it seems to go.) Add in a bit of dancing silhouettedness and you've got a narrative, of sorts, which I presume means something. The director reckons there are some "conceptual underpinnings", but that he's "keeping them to [himself]". Which I can only take to mean he was stoned at the time and he can't remember. All the same, it looks nice, which is all we can ask for isn't it?
Also it's one of those songs which lulls you into a gentle rhythm before exploding into rock and then back again. It's like that bit where you're in the shower and someone turns on a hot tap in another room, leaving the water arctic-like for just a few moments... (cf "Starlings" by Elbow, "Peloton"-era Delgados).
