The National - Fake Empire


There's a certain irony in a song called "Fake Empire" being used to soundtrack a US election ad campaign (Barack Obama, Denver, September), but it clearly worked. Ok, they took the vocals off, but that was only sensible - one, you don't want Jon Stewart picking up on any missed minutiae, and two, it'd be enough to bring the mood right back down.

That's not to say it's not a cracking tune, though, cos it is. The band more than compensate for any lacklustre delivery, and, to be fair, the chorus does sing of being half awake. I'd like to be able to sing half as well when I'm half awake, if you see what I mean.

I'd also like to be able to make a fan vid half as good as this. You've really got to have time, talent and not a little dedication to produce such an effort for nothing but a post on the interweb.
