The New Pornographers - Myriad Harbour
I'm always suspicious of 'supergroups'. You get the feeling being equal to the sum of their parts isn't enough, that they should transcend to a higher plane of the unexpected and the joyous. So I put all that to the back of my mind when I listen to them and judge the song entirely on its merits. This one's a good old jangly romp through some well-trodden pop avenues, but done, as you'd hope, better than your average 'band'. (Ignore the fact that the end bit sounds like the end bit of "Whatever" by Oasis, too).
The vid's suitably weird and wonderful, and I guess animation gets around the need to feature each one of the band - sorry, supergroup - equally. Just make it all about the hair.
